The Тraveling Exhibition is Visiting PODA!

From September 8 to 30, the Тraveling Exhibition of the 25th Gabrovo Biennale of Humor and Satire is visiting "Poda" - the first Nature Conservation Center in Bulgaria that functions as a center for nature protection, educational, ecotourism and informational activities supporting the preservation of the entire complex of the Burgas wetlands. The center is one of the most attractive places in the country for many bird lovers, because on its territory of one square kilometer it shelters 290 species of birds, which is more than half of the 430 species of birds found on the territory of Bulgaria.

The "Poda" area was declared protected in 1989 at the proposal of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, which was officially entrusted with its management. This is the first case in our country of granting the management of a protected territory to a civil organization.

In 2022 the Museum of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo celebrates its 50th birthday. This golden anniversary coincides with the 25th edition of the Gabrovo Biennial, one of the largest international art forums in Bulgaria. This year it boasts three exhibitions featuring over a hundred artists from around the world. The theme is Economy of Means, relevant not only because of the proverbial Gabrovo thrift, but also in view of the increasingly critical need to save, conserve and care for resources worldwide.

For this exhibition we have selected a small part of the works selected by an international jury in the Cartoon section. They will make you smile, but they will certainly give you food for thought.
