Birdwatching in Gabrovo!

Post updated

With the help of Vladimir Mladenov - responsible for nature protection activities, and Dimo Shehlarski - a volunteer in BDZP, we managed to see nearly 30 species of birds along the rivers Yantra and Sinkevitsa. The stork turned out to be the biggest poser and didn't hide at all, unlike the rest of the birds. During the observation, we also learned a curious fact about swifts: Bulgaria has the largest colony of them in Europe, because they prefer to nest in the cracks of panel blocks.

Special thanks to the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds for the experience, to the Central Balkan National Park and the Bulgarka Nature Park for providing the means of observation, as well as to the bird lovers from Bulgaria and Norway who joined the tour.
